He realized that matcha, with its high nutritional value, saved his life. At the same time, I felt as if my ancestors were telling me to spread matcha. He thought, "I want to use the matcha that saved my life to benefit people around the world somehow. He was the head of a traditional Uji tea house, awarded an honorary title by the head of the Senke Iemoto, the main school of the tea ceremony. However, while teaching Matcha in Canada, he found it difficult to handle because of the powdery, lumpy, and discolored tea. He was convinced that if he could solve these problems, anyone would be able to enjoy matcha with ease.

After returning to Japan in 2010, he spent 10 years researching and developing Beyond Matcha,  a paste form of matcha for anyone to enjoy matcha tea. It is safe, additive-free, and color-free, and the nutritional value of matcha is not compromised. You can enjoy the original color and taste of organically grown matcha without discoloration.

Matcha can be made simply by dissolving it in hot water, allowing you to drink matcha anytime, anywhere, and matcha lattes are easy and hassle-free.

Once, a tea master wandered between life and death. The Beyond Matcha is the result of his thorough research and development on the difficulty of using matcha.


Kita Shigezaemon, the 12th generation, has been running a tea house in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, from his ancestors, who were the Imperial Tea Masters of the Edo Shogunate in the Edo Period (1600).

He moved to Canada in 2000 at the age of 44 to study Canadian nutritional science, holistic medicine, and natural herbal medicine, as well as to promote Uji's matcha tea to the world. There he was asked about the cancer-preventive properties of matcha, a Japanese superfood.

However, at the age of 54, he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was unconscious for three months, during which time he experienced two cardiopulmonary arrests and was in a state of life and death. He miraculously survived but was left paralyzed on the left side of his body. After his miraculous resuscitation, doctors told him, "Before he collapsed, he was taking it as a habit. The matcha tea he had been drinking out of habit before he collapsed saved his life. Matcha contains a lot of potassium. The cause of his cerebral hemorrhage was primary aldosteronism, a potassium deficiency disease.
